Log in to Reply Bootleg Outdoors on September 3, 2017 at 2:20 pm Sometimes if you trap or shoot one of the raccoons, then that will keep them away for few days. We’ve had success putting Vaseline on metal feeder poles, put cage type blockers, and even distracted them with different type of bait that deer won’t eat (i.e. Sardines)…but nothing seems to work 100% of the time. At least if you put it high on a tree, the hogs can’t get it!
